Privacy

What we keep, and what we don't.

Learn Lacan is built without surveillance infrastructure. We do not run advertising, attention-capture analytics, or behavioral tracking. The minimum that follows is what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

  • Account information (email, hashed password or social-login identifier) handled by Clerk on our behalf.
  • Subscription and payment information handled by Stripe on our behalf. We never see your card.
  • Your chat history, saved to your account so you can return to prior sessions.
  • Your Notebook contents — stars, quotes, notes, tags — scoped to your account.
  • Your feedback submissions, kept in our database with the page URL you were on so we can reply usefully.
  • Aggregate, IP-anonymized request counts via Plausible Analytics and Vercel's edge network. No per-user behavioral profile.

What we never do

  • We do not analyze your chats, notebook, or feedback to build a profile of you.
  • We do not use your queries, notes, or saved quotes to train any AI model — ours or anyone else's.
  • We do not run third-party trackers or sell access to data about you. We have nothing to sell.
  • We do not share your account details with anyone outside the strictly necessary processors named on this page (Clerk, Stripe, Supabase, Vercel, Fly.io, Anthropic, Resend, Plausible).

How to delete your account

You can delete your account at any time from Manage Account (avatar dropdown → Manage account → "Delete account"). Deletion removes your account record, chat history, notebook, and all associated rows from our database within 30 days. Clerk and Stripe retain minimum compliance-required records on their end as required by law.

If anything here is unclear, write us via /feedback.

The processors we use

For the curious — our entire third-party surface:

  • Clerk — authentication, account management, transactional email (verification, password reset).
  • Stripe — payments, subscriptions, customer portal.
  • Supabase — primary database (chat history, notebook contents, transactions, feedback).
  • Anthropic — the Claude model that powers the chat. Per Anthropic's published policy, API queries are not used for model training.
  • Vercel — frontend hosting (the static site you're reading).
  • Fly.io — backend hosting (the chat API).
  • Resend — transactional email delivery for feedback submissions.
  • Plausible — privacy-preserving aggregate analytics. No cookies, no per-user profiles.
  • Squarespace — DNS resolution for learnlacan.com.

Each of these has its own privacy posture; we've chosen them with that in mind. None of them gets passed your chats or notebook beyond what's strictly necessary for the feature to work (Anthropic gets the question and the retrieved corpus excerpts, nothing else; Supabase stores the data we explicitly write; the rest see only routing or auth metadata).
